The "14th Five-Year Plan" strategic seminar of Engineering Thermophysics was held in Chongqing

Under the background of the national "14th Five-Year Plan" strategic plan, in order to deeply explore the long-term development strategy of Engineering Thermophysics, determine the further development direction of the discipline, and promote the national sustainable development strategy,  the "14th Five-Year" Strategic Seminar for Engineering Thermophysics, which was organized by the School of Power Engineering and was sponsored by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, was successfully held on November 15, 2018 in Chongqing Yuzhou Hotel. Professor Zhang Zongyi, president of Chongqing University, Ji Jun, director of Engineering and Materials Division III of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Academician Jin Hongguang, Institute of Engineering Thermophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Academician Li Yinghong, Air Force Engineering University, Academician Xuan Yimin, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Academician Guo Liejin, Xi'an Jiaotong University , Academician He Yaling of Xi'an Jiaotong University, Academician Chen Yong of the Guangzhou Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and more than 160 experts and scholars in the field of engineering thermophysics attended the conference.

The opening ceremony of the conference was held in the Zhonghua Hall of Yuzhou Hotel at 8:00 am on the 15th. The conference was presided over by Ji Jun, director of the Engineering and Materials Division of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and Zhang Zongyi, presidentof Chongqing University, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. Subsequently, director Ji Jun gave a report on the future development of Engineering Thermophysics with the theme of the "14th Five-Year" early development strategy.

The report stage of the conference was presided over by Academician Xuan Yimin from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Professor Liao Qiang from Chongqing University. Academician Jin Hongguang, academician Li Yinghong, academician Guo Liejin, academician Chen Yong, academician He Yaling, and Professor Sun Xiaofeng and Professor Wang Ruzhu respectively focused on the "14th The "Five" strategic plan comprehensively reports the key issues in the current engineering thermophysics research field from various disciplines, clarified the discipline construction direction and long-term development plan, and covered the development strategy of the engineering thermophysics department and the "two machines" major special projects, such as  orderly energy conversion, biomass energy, sustainable energy development, renewable energy and new energy, and many other hotspots and key research areas.

 The session of discussion and exchanges was held in the afternoon of the 15th, participated experts and scholars conducted in-depth discussions on the six sub-disciplines of thermodynamics, gas dynamics, heat transfer, combustion, multiphase flow, and renewable energy. The summary and discussion laid a foundation for further clarifying the development strategy of the engineering thermophysics discipline system and the long-term construction and development of the discipline.

At the closing ceremony of the meeting, Ji Jun, director of the Engineering and Materials Division III of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, announced that the meeting was a complete success, and the "14th Five-Year Plan" Strategic Seminar of Engineering Thermophysics came to a close.
